Dawn Beaumont - Class of 2001
Current Profession:
Safety Management and Endurance Athlete
Where did life take you after graduation?
Life took me up to Kalgoorlie where my parents had moved whilst I was finishing Year 12. I then went on to begin working in the mining industry which led to me obtaining my Bachelor of Science Health and Safety degree. I had the opportunity to work in countries like South Africa and Chile. I met my now husband in my early twenties and we married in 2011. We have done so much together since and now live in Adelaide.
What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
My biggest career highlight so far has been to channel all of my remote work learning into the planning to undertake the Queen of Hearts Run & Ride 20,000km over 200 days around Australia.
What is your fondest memory of life at Lumen?
The choir. I was fortunate enough to be in the choir most of my high school experience and learnt alot about leadership as the choir leader.
Have you been a part of any significant clubs, groups or affiliations since graduation?
The main club I'm associated with is Run As One, the largest running club in Australia.
What advice do you have for current Lumen Christi College students?
It's easy to get focused on trying to work out your entire future in your last years of high school. I didn't get the TEE score I needed for my original plan. I'm now living an incredible life getting to go to some of the most remote places in Australia for heart health promotion.
