Year 10 is an important transition year that helps students prepare for their Senior School pathway.

All students study a range of subjects that develops essential knowledge and skills across key learning areas.

Compulsory subjects include:

  • English
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
  • Science
  • Mathematics
  • Religious Education
  • Physical Education and Health

In addition to the compulsory subjects, students study three year-long elective subjects. These classes provide a strong foundation and prepare students for the expectations of senior secondary study.

In Years 11 and 12, students select a pathway that aligns with their strengths, interests and future aspirations. Whether following an ATAR or General/Vocational pathway towards a post-school destination, all students are working towards achieving the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).

ATAR Pathway

The ATAR pathway is designed for students intending to pursue university study following year 12.

Students undertaking this pathway:

  • Complete a minimum of four ATAR courses (moved up)
  • Sit ATAR examinations throughout Year 11 and 12
General/Vocational Pathway

The General/Vocational pathway supports students pursuing an alternative entry to university, TAFE, apprenticeships, vocational training, or employment.

Students undertaking this pathway:

  • Study a combination of General and Certificate courses
  • Have the opportunity to study externally delivered Certificate courses through VET partnerships
  • Can participate in Workplace Learning programs

Learning at Lumen Christi College extends well beyond the classroom.

Students are encouraged to participate in our vibrant extra-curricular program, which includes:

  • After-school sporting teams
  • Performing Arts groups
  • Student clubs and activities

These opportunities help students develop confidence, leadership and a strong sense of community.

At Lumen Christi College, our aim is to work with students to grow their capabilities in managing their own career development and achieve their personal academic goals to ensure they are well-equipped for their life beyond the College.

We are committed to offering students the opportunity to participate in a variety of career development programs to enhance their understanding of the range of options available to them after Year 12.

Across years 10 to 12, students gain access to key information about post-school destinations through career information sessions, individual subject selection counselling, and a range of guest speakers from universities and industry providers.

More information regarding the subject opportunities for students throughout Years 11 and 12 can be found below.
