The Learning Hub caters for students across Years 7 to 12 who require significant adjustments to mainstream programs. Where possible, students are grouped according to age and integrated into specialist mainstream classes as appropriate.
Specialised teaching staff, with the support of Education Assistants (EAs), deliver individualised and small programs, reflecting current educational approaches which cover the academic, emotional, physical, social and pastoral development of students.
The aim of the Learning Hub is to equip students with skills needed beyond secondary schooling, supporting them to develop the skills needed to thrive in appropriate workplace environments and in the wider community. All students participate in Year group activities and College events such as Retreats, Activity Days and Inter-House Carnivals.
Students who can access the mainstream curriculum, but who require some additional support, may have environmental and/or instructional adjustments. Learning is scaffolded and may be supported by EAs.
Literacy and numeracy support is also provided in Middle School to students who need additional help in one or both areas.
Students who speak a language or dialect other than English at home, and who have difficulty accessing the mainstream English curriculum, are supported in Middle School through small classes focusing on the three domains of Standard Australian English: listening and speaking, reading and writing.
