Lumen Christi College recently held their annual ‘Dump a Jumper’ collection, which saw students and staff come together to help in-need community members through the Vinnies Winter Appeal.
The College’s ‘Dump a Jumper’ initiative encourages College community members to clear out their wardrobes and donate any jumpers that are no longer needed. Students and staff were asked to bring these jumpers along with them to the Interhouse Cross Country, where all of the jumpers were then ‘dumped’ into one big pile, and collected by the St Vincent de Paul Society for their Vinnies Winter Appeal.
Hundreds of jumpers were donated this year, continuing the wonderful efforts of the Lumen community over the last three years since the College started the ‘Dump a Jumper’ initiative in 2017.
“Our College really tries to look at ways in which we can support those people in our community who may be struggling and in-need”, said Mrs Silvana Vicoli, Deputy Principal of Mission and Identity.
“‘Dump a Jumper’ is just one of our many Community Outreach programs which helps us to do this. The students at Lumen are very community minded and always strive to be Lights of Example in their generosity”.
Lumen Christi College actively participates in a variety of Outreach projects, encouraging students to participate in activities and fundraisers for causes such as the Vinnies Winter Sleepout, Daffodil Day, the Cancer Council, Lifelink WA, Caritas Australia, and Beyond Blue.
