Children's Book Week - Staff morning tea (10 images)
Children's Book Week is an annual event celebrated each August in many school and public libraries around Australia and is one of the biggest events of the year for the Library community. Each year there is a very distinct theme around which Library displays and class activities are organised to help celebrate this special event. For 2007, the theme was READiscover.
Here at Lumen, the Library staff took that message to heart and re-visited some of our childhood memories to READiscover the books we read as we were growing up. The Book Week display that Library staff put together hosted a selection of old books (some dating back to the early 1920s) to capture a world that was without MP3 players, ipods, DSs, mobile phones – just to name a few!
Staff were invited to morning tea in the Library to see the wonderful display and also to vote in the Year 8 Poster Competition.
