Careers Education Career development is the lifelong process of self managing each individual’s learning and work. It is about taking charge of our own in the overall career development programme at Lumen Christi. The programme provides opportunities for all students in Years 8 – 10 to acquire career skills and awareness via pathway planning, which includes TAFE certification. Using an holistic approach, the Career Education programme is skillfully embedded within the core curriculum and incorporated into a range of subject areas. Integration of the Australian Blueprint for Career Development (ABCD) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) course to our career education programs enables Year 8 to Year 10 students to qualify for Certificate I in Work Preparations, Certificate I in Introductory to Vocational Education and Certificate I in Work Readiness. In Year 10, students are also given the opportunity to develop an employment portfolio. In Year 11 and 12, students have the option to select the Course of Study (COS) for Career and Enterprise or undertake other vocational courses to further enhance their planned pathway. The COS for Career and Enterprise enables students to develop the skills and understanding needed to successfully enter the world of work via Apprenticeships, TAFE, and University or directly from school. It also equips students with valuable career management skills by giving students the opportunity to develop and implement plans for their own future career pathways. The course is divided into four units: For further information, please click on the links below: |
